This or like it is what you need comrades. Will carry plenty of crew and provisions and it could probably be had for much less than the advertised price. This vessel or equivalent is what you should start with. Co-ownership of boats is a common thing to do, so if enough people chipped in you could be started ASAP. Take heed that this is a big boat and cannot be single-handed. Crew of four would work great. If say, ten of you went in on it you'd be putting out like $2,000 each assuming you can get it for $20K, which is basically chump change. Once purchased it can be delivered to anywhere. seattle.craigslist.org/see/boa/5346287986.html

I can find out/inspect/underwater hull surver etc. if there's serious interest in this.

Looks like a good deal, but it's a bit old no? Old? That isn't an issue. I would sandblast the hull and repaint it right off the bat though. Then you'd need a bunch of new electronics. Big deal. I'd replace the engine with a Kubota or whatever after the ford wears out in a few decades. Newer doesn't equal better. I'd take an old boat over a new one...much thicker, higher quality hull material. Modern fiberglass boats are flimsy. The old ones aka "plastic classics" are stout. My hull is thick enough that I'm confident it's resist small arms fire.

There was another 50' boat hull only over on Lopez Island for $5K but it's just a bare hull. Too much work.

how many guys can we fit inside this thing I'd say that depends. Looking at similar boats I'd say 12 people more or less for what we have in mind and if everybody got along. I'd suggest asking legalfag what he thinks of doing a co-ownership or starting some non-profit org (save the blue-footed boobies!) and go from there. Money talks and when somebody wants out from under a moorage payment or has some troubles then you can get screaming deals. People don't realize what it takes to keep a boat in the water. This particular boat would clean up nice. We just want to be real sure the hull is sound, it is encouraging that it was professionally made in one of the Seattle yards. It could be relocated further north up in the Puget Sound so our Canada Bros would be closer to it so it can be worked on. It would make a great mothership and could hold all the communications gear and whatnot.
