What supports those? How are they made? I don't think shelter is a problem so long as we have access to wood and/or stone anyway but it'll be nice to know. Shelter will always be an issue. The shelters need to be built both affordably.. and logically.. Easier to determine once we get an island picked. For example though we'd want the main hub of civilization to be nearby but not on the base of a hill or mountain but its also important where the usn rises and sets etc But they're made with Clay and cement. Basically just need Rebar, Cement, Clay, and manpower. I can cut wood, and build a reliable hut as temporary shelter. I'm thinking stone and mortar for the long term.

On the subject of housing, it wouldn't be too hard to build small homes out of bricks and wood. Assuming the climate is warm (cough, cough Henderson), we wouldn't need to worry about heating too much, just a little electric heater should we get chilly at night.

But yeah, building something favela-tier like your picture is pretty easy. Somewhere we can keep dry even if it's not pretty.
If theres an outcrop, cliffs, any stone on the surface we can build solid buildings that will last centuries.
