Now I understand many of you have not spent days away from home or have ever been in a place where you would call everyone but your friends hostile. Below I have outlined a 3 day pack everything will fit in a medium ALICE pack however if you can afford a bigger and better pack I would get one. The items in the pack will keep you alive for 3 days if you do your part, The pack is meant to be only used when needed and thus won't be the supply's for the initial days but are supply's to unfuck yourself if you manage to get lost or run into trouble. Depending on where we end up there could be more added to this but this is the minimum you'll need. Your firearms will vary depending on expected resistance if any and environment variables. However I would not recommend anything smaller than 5.56x45 for a primary rifle regardless of circumstances. Remember the natives of where ever we go will very likely be unhappy with our presence whether we are helping them or not and thus the initial force should be mainly made of people with combat experience and anyone that can speak the local language. Keep in mind the natives will have the advantage of living there before us and we will be extremely likely to lose in an armed conflict due to our numbers unless we were to strike first. With all of this in mind take care to remember we are trying to avoid hostile contact but we can only control ourselves.
TLDR; The bag will keep you alive for 3 days. Even if the area is deemed friendly people can attack you and so can animals.
IF we land in a "friendly" zone flares would be useful along with a flare gun. IF we land in a "hostile" zone a plate carrier with level III (Not IIIa) plates would be useful.

Nah you'd need an assault pack for that, Much lighter. I figured that be a better "general" equipment thread for the gear on the boats and to setup camp rather than what needs to be carried by an individual person.

What's the flash drive for? If you're anywhere with a computer and electricity then why would you need the rest of the stuff?

What's the flash drive for? If you're anywhere with a computer and electricity then why would you need the rest of the stuff? You can store files on it all of which are mostly readable by any computer. So you can store anything important you'd want someone to find incase of your death in a small package that you can water proof and make fire proof if you so wish. So if someone comes across John Doe's mangled corpse out in the brush and finds a flash drive around his neck and they read it they could then inform anyone of what happened along with any other information he wanted to share. Plus we'll likely have toughbooks; impact, water, fire and dust resistant laptops with a very long battery life so it could be used for family photos, porn, books on PDF, ETC and it only weighs a couple of grams so no point in not packing one.

you're treating the flash drive like a dog tag? He's expecting heavy losses by attacking a North Korean military base.

Dog tags don't carry instructions to return bodies to bases or print out letters and send them home to families. We aren't a known country or force. What good will a dog tag with a name and 3 other lines of info do?

Cheeky I understand you're young and have never been on your own before, Go spend a week in the wild and I don't mean out in your backyard before you assume you understand what gear is needed for what. Once you realize you can freeze to death while is 50F(10C) out or that you can die from getting an infection because you wore your boots improperly for too long and thought nothing of it at the time then you can bitch about what gear is needed. But until that day I suggest you allow those of us with military and outdoor experience provide the insight needed into what to bring.

Taking an island is a big thing, be it from North Korea or the UK, They will not be happy with us. The only difference is we could capture some planes a hanger and other misc gear from North Korea and MAYBE get a little support in doing so. Although we'd have to fend off a fairly savage attack. Invading any other place will still likely result in an attack on us.

The gear above is general gear used for hiking in the U.S. by a lot of people it's a fairly standard load out for a medium pack.
