We are trying to set up a new nation on a world where no place remains unclaimed, something that takes both some sort of special stupidity and adventurous spirit. However, we are not the only ones doing so, and those others are way ahead of us. The micronation movement has carried on our cause for quite some time, with some rather impressive result along the way. They have a UN-like organisation and even held olympic games at least once.
What I am advocating now is that we, before moving onto some plot of land and start to play Tropico, proclaim the foundation of a new micronation. We do have the advantage that we are more than one person doing so. However, before getting to tangled up in this topic, I'd like to have your opinion on this.
Do you think we should go this route in order to gain recognition by other micronations and maybe even join their ranks, or are we going to stay on the path we were going up until now?

What we are currently trying to do is to form a sovereign nation on national territory of another, all while staying under the radar. No matter what we do, we won't get recognized as a nation any way. As a micronation we can claim parts of a nation with either a history claim - like the Principality of Seborga - or due to judicial loopholes - like Liberland and Sealand - or by simply claiming it for the sake of it. While no UN nation will acknowledge such claims, other micronations might do so and actually etablish diplomatic relations. To make it short, it's about being recognized as a nation.

We currently try to form a shadow nation on the soil of another nation, while staying hidden for an unknown time.

Haven't you read my latest plan? The UN will be forced to recognise us: 2016- Meetups and preparation exercises are done in Hawaii, Canada and the UK - Money is raised for the charity 2017- People begin moving to Pitcairn - The charity travels to Kiribati to feed the islanders and erect sea walls 2018- The Southern Line Islands are annexed by the newly founded Pacific Federation - The charity threatens to withdraw funding should the Kiribati government request military action from Australia - More people travel to Pitcairn 2019- The Pacific Federation begins importing food and other goods to Kiribati, further increasing their dependency on outside entities - Elections are held in Pitcairn and a new puppet government is elected 2020- The charity declares itself the new government of Kiribati - Pitcairn joins the Pacific Federation, despite UK disapproval 2021- An airstrip is cleared on Oeno Island - Kiribati joins the Pacific Federation - Colonisation of Henderson Island begins Also, it's not about being recognised, it's about being a functioning country, where we are free to set the laws as we please.

Sounds alright but I think we should have a presence on the islands first before claiming a micro nation so that we don't get kicked off immediately or get denied access to the islands.

Haven't you read my latest plan? The UN will be forced to recognise us. Also, it's not about being recognised, it's about being a functioning country, where we are free to set the laws as we please. I have read your plan and it's far from realistic. I appreciate your dedication to the cause, but planning to make the state of Kiribati dependent of some sort of charity that has no money to do any of the things you described seems a little off to me. By the way, if this isn't about being recognized, then we might as well blow it off. If we want to stand as a nation before the world, said world needs to give us an okay at some point.

You said it yourself, micronations aren't recognised anyway. I'm not here to declare a landlocked acre of land a "nation" while we abide by the laws the real government has set in place. It's not about being recognised by some council of loser micronations, it's about functioning as a real country, it doesn't matter what others think because we are the ones trying to get away from them.

You tell that to those 'others' who would be both willing and capable to end this little endeavour of ours. You should not forget that there is a whole world out there not willing to accept some idiots setting up a state.

This might work, but we'd need to get to Pitcairn as citizens. Since Pitcairn has no jobs available and, as far as I know, none of us is sitting on a couple millions to provide for our spearhead, we are somewhat stuck right at the beginning.

You should not forget that there is a whole world out there not willing to accept some idiots setting up a state. That's we have made plans to ensure that does not happen, ask aussie1 about the charity plan, I've left it with him as it was his idea. So far you've been very vague with your micronation idea, I want to know, what kind of land are you hoping to claim?
